Beers Tasted
Beer 1: South End Pale Ale (5.2% abv; CT-grown Chinook hops). Surprising (for a Pale Ale) amber color, not gold. Medium body, with medium to full maltiness. Not a session beer by design, but could be, with its fulness. Delicioius, complex, well-rounded, with some melon flavor notes.
Beer 2: Old Timer's Bock (6.4% abv). Amber, clear, good carbonation. Has the faint caramel of a good bock, and remains mostly dry, not cloying.
Beer 3: Mikro Collaboration Belgian Dark Ale (7.7% abv). Nice spice on the palate. More flavor than the O.T. Bock, but very similar brown ale-type flavors, and unexpected rosemary and faint mint on back palate.
Beer 4: Dr. Porter's Stout (5.5% abv). Coffee predominates, with roasted peanut or walnut over top. Quite complex flavors. This is not Guinness, but not worse for that. Just different. A touch of pasture pizza (brett) on the finish.
Beer 5: Naked Blonde (5% abv) Beer tastes like it has corn or rice adjunct, but it is much fuller than national, big-brewer beers. Very nice, except for a final note of roasted corn that is off-putting. (Tasted at the Connecticut Brewfest, Oakdale theater, 10/9/21.)
Beer 6: Blood Orange Blonde/Golden Ale (5% abv) Some body & wheat fullness, but no flavor. Really not presentable beer.(Tasted at the Connecticut Brewfest, Oakdale theater, 10/9/21.)
