East Hartford is the successor to the Old Burnside brewery. The East Hartford owners bought the brand name. Old Penny is the flagship brew.

BEERS TASTED

Beer 1: Ten Penny Red Ale (5.5% abv) FIRST TASTING: Good body, but taste tails off very quickly. (Tasted at East Hartford 7/16/21.) SECOND TASTING: Very different experience from first tasting: tasted homebrewed on attack, but came on through the taste experience, with amber nuttiness. A good, light-bodied beer. (Tasted at CT Beer Festival, XL Center 4/22/23.)

Beer 5: Money Penny Stout (7.5% abv) Stout with coconut and dark chocolate. Really gorgeous, and LONG. Seems like high-quality coconut and dark chocolate were used. (Tasted at CT Beer Festival, XL Center 4/22/23.)

Beer 2: Pale Penny American Pale Ale (6.0% abv) Decent flavor, but low carbonation and taste does not follow through to finish. (Tasted at East Hartford 7/16/21.)

Beer 3: Juicy Penny NEIPA (6.0% abv) Great head, lighter body, with light hops flavor. (Tasted at CT Beer Festival, XL Center 4/22/23.)

Beer 4: Penny Weiz Ale (4.7% abv) Wheat beer with orange flavor. Good, subtle flavors, but a popcorn flavor on the finish disappoints a bit. (Tasted at CT Beer Festival, XL Center 4/22/23.)
