Impression
One of the highlights of HotH comes before you arrive. HotH is in a valley with some of the richest farming land in Connecticut, and the farms are classics, with red barns and perfectly trimmed cropland. On any given sunny day after about June 15th, the scene is Idyllic. HotH is no agricultural slouch either, since it grows its own hops. You will see the hop bines as you drive up to the barn. At the barn, loads of parking. The barn itself is large & modern, with loads of sturdy tables and chairs. Large bar is toward the front.
Beers Tasted
Beer 1: Blondie German Blonde Ale (5.8% abv) FIRST TASTING: Very tall head, very clean, good body. Neutral flavor, but bright and refreshing. (Tasted at Hops on the Hill, 7/16/21.) SECOND TASTING: Good head and bright. Noticeable popcorn taste on finish, however. (Tasted at CT Beer Festival, XL Center 4/22/23.)
Beer 5: Roaster Amber Lager (6.1% abv) Really nice! Big earthy flavor that overcomes slight popcorn on finish. (Tasted at CT Beer Festival, XL Center 4/22/23.)
Beer 2: Hefeweizen (5.0% abv) Good carbonation, very nice banana flavor that lasts throughout palate. (Tasted at Hops on the Hill, 7/16/21.)
Beer 6: Microburst NEIPA (5.0% abv) Light on flavor. Very meh. Odd extraneous odor on nose, as well. (Tasted at CT Beer Festival, XL Center 4/22/23.)
Beer 3: B & B Wheat Beer (5.3% abv) Exactly what's advertised: blackberry (almost grapey) with the body of a wheat beer. Original. Not my thing, but a fun beer. (Tasted at Hops on the Hill, 7/16/21.)
Beer 4: Mel Mel Stout (5.8% abv) No head, but good carbonation. Very good malt roast, without taking on coffee flavors. The lighter body is more like a Porter than a Stout. Flavor tails off quickly, though. (Tasted at Hops on the Hill, 7/16/21.)
