Impression

Superbly well-made beers showing true care, craftsmanship, and technical understanding. KF is down a dirt road, and once there, it feels like Shangri-La, completely isolated from the world. Classic farm buildings in red, plus a significant farm attached to the brewery, give the impression of being lost in time and in a beautiful rural setting. The tasting room is a bit dark; I prefer to sit outside.

BEERS TASTED

Beer 1: Yeesh! Czech Pilsner (5% abv) Nicely balanced, clean, golden, with good carbonation. Has very good typicity, except that the back-of-palate bitters could be slightly enhanced. (Tasted at Kent Falls 9/20/19.)

Beer 5: The Hollow Farm Pilsner (5.0% abv) I found this a bit too light on the palate. (Tasted at "VIP Tasting Experience," Smokedown Farm 7/24/21.)

Beer 2: Modern Posture Wheat Beer (5.1% abv) Not much head, low carbonation, if not quite flat. Decent, with vaguely brett taste. Not my favorite here. (Tasted at Kent Falls 9/20/19.)

Beer 6: Public Golden Mild Ale (4.5% abv) Golden color, no big head. Low aroma on the nose, but palate is big, refreshing, with dense foam. Cool mouthfeel. Not a ton of flavor, but it is a golden, after all. Good back-of-throat bitterness, and a mouth-cleansing mid-palate. Great balance of elements. Connecticut Smokedown Farm Hops. Grain grown & malted at Thrall Family Farm. (Home tasting: 4/12/23.)

Beer 3: Wooded Streams Vienna Lager (4.7% abv) Big, barny flavor. Not huge carbonation, but good head. Nutty. Very good typicity. (Tasted at Kent Falls 9/20/19.)

Beer 4: SuperScript American IPA (6.0% abv) Nice, calm - i.e., not too juicy; not too hoppy - IPA. (Tasted at "VIP Tasting Experience," Smokedown Farm 7/24/21.)
