Impression

Entry is up a ramp to a mezzanine parking area behind the main street lot. The site was a gristmill in colonial times, then a pin factory that contributed to Waterbury's nickname as "Brass City." The more imposing factory across the street, which extends its covered pedestrian-bridge tentacles over Watertown Avenue, was a sawmill, then a sewing machine factory, then produced garden shears. These covered bridges are made of classic corrugated steel, with smudged windows, circa Coketown. Yet they have their Dickensian charm; driving underneath them feels like being inside a factory lot, not passing by it. The pub is small, no bigger than 1500 square feet. Compact bar, with a few tables in front as one comes in. Red Sox game was on TV. Pub & bathrooms are very clean.

BEERS TASTED

Beer 1: Steele Brook German Pilsner (5.4% abv) Clear lemon color. Nicely made; quite bitter. Odd, though, that the malt flavor does not come out more. (Tasted at Lasting Brass BrewCo 7/8/21.)

Beer 5: Endless Echo Hazy NEIPA (6.7% abv) Very good, with nice, light, flavorful malt. Hops are more discreet, and taste tails off on finish, but altogether a really nice beer. (Tasted at the Third Annual Summer Beerfest at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Waterbury 7/23/21.)

Beer 2: Interflow American Wild Ale (5.8% abv) Amber color. Oak barrels used in ageing are quite apparent in the taste profile. Very sour, but nicely executed. Props for even trying to do this. A half beer is about right for this, as it is quite sour. (Tasted at Lasting Brass BrewCo 7/8/21.)

Beer 3: Brass City Blonde / Golden Ale (4.5% abv) FIRST TASTING: Well done, good head. Lemon color. Good body, balance and nice carbonation. (Tasted at Lasting Brass BrewCo 7/8/21.) SECOND TASTING: Beautiful, balanced, nice finish, light and balanced throughout. (Tasted at the Third Annual Summer Beerfest at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Waterbury 7/23/21.)

Beer 4: Blood Moon Fruited Sour (8.0% abv) Tart & sweet; BIG fruit & sugars. (Tasted at Lasting Brass BrewCo 7/8/21.)
