Impression

The Shunnock River Brewery is part pizzeria, part beer pub, in a classic saltbox with two added wings and burgundy siding. It sits very close to the mosaic stone bridge over the Shunnock River that forms the focus of Voluntown's center. There is no ceremony, here, as one would expect at a pizzeria, nor is the seating experience particularly refined, but this is a good neighborhood bar with surprisingly decent beer.

BEERS TASTED

Beer 1: River Monster DIPA (8.7 abv) Big nose, delicious, light, full-bodied all the way through, including some bitter on the finish. Clean, but not watery. (Tasted at Shunock River 7/3/21)

Beer 5: Honey Maple Brown Ale (6.7 abv) Good, with reasonable amount of coffee flavor. Medium-length. Altogether well done. (Tasted at Shunock River 7/3/21)

Beer 2 Eldorado Pale Ale (5.25 abv) Good, but missing body. Fruity hops. (Tasted at Shunock River 7/3/21)

Beer 6: West Coast DIPA (8.8 abv) Bigger nose than the River Monster, but still restrained and good. (Tasted at Shunock River 7/3/21)

Beer 3: Kiwi Sour (4.2 abv) Nice, almost gueuze-like. Just enough fruit. (Tasted at Shunock River 7/3/21)

Beer 4: Blondie Mosaic Hops (5.5 abv) Inoffensive, straight, OK, pale-ale style of beer. (Tasted at Shunock River 7/3/21)
