Beers Tasted
Beer 1: Sun Juice Summer Tropical India Pale Lager (5.6% abv) FIRST TASTING: Big hop flavor; almost too much. (Tasted at Stony Creek 4/5/19.)
SECOND TASTING: Really tasteless. Huge disparity between first and second tastings leads me to believe that some quality-control was missing or off. (Tasted at the Third Annual Summer Beerfest at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Waterbury 7/23/21.)
Beer 2: Summer Wit (5.3% abv) Classic, if soft Wit features, but lacking flavor. (Tasted at Stony Creek 4/5/19.)
Beer 5: Nitro Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter (5.3% abv) Here's a shocker: this beer tasted, and had foam like, a Guinness. I'm not kidding. Surprise! (Tasted at Stony Creek 4/5/19.)
Beer 6: Little Cranky (4.5% abv) So Little Cranky was full of flavor, but more honest than its big brother. I actually found it good! Could it also be the 4.5 abv. vs. 9.5? Is my excommunication for the sacrilege against Big Cranky now lifted? Tune in for answers to these and other questions! (Tasted at Stony Creek 4/5/19.)
Beer 3: Big Cranky (9.5% abv) Contrary to the Brewery's promise, I found this beer extraordinarily UNdrinkable. I know - sacrilege! This beer was once one of the most popular beers in Connecticut and outside the State. But tasting Big Cranky in 2019 was the moment I said "enough" to huge, dank IPAs. Too filling, couldn't imagine drinking more than a few gulps, much less a second of these mastodons. (Tasted at Stony Creek 4/5/19.)
Beer 7: Home Sweet Home (5.8% abv) No flavor. Very disappointing. (Tasted at Stony Creek 4/5/19.)
Beer 4: Stony Joe (5.5% abv) Too sweet. Tasted like too much coffee. And Dunkin' Donuts coffee at that... (Tasted at Stony Creek 4/5/19.)
Beer 8: Dock Time Vienna Lager (4.8% abv) FIRST TASTING: No notes available. (Tasted at the Third Annual Summer Beerfest at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Waterbury 7/23/21.) SECOND TASTING: Medium-bodied, with good, nutty flavor, but unfortunately little follow-through to mid- and back-palate. Good carbonation. (Tasted at the Connecticut Brewfest, Oakdale theater, 10/9/21.)
